AIPP State Award Landscape category 2009 ‘Silver with Distinction’ “A Day At The Bay
PERSITENCE, PATIENCE and PERSERVERANCE PAYS OFF.

After a couple of years of persistent work perseverance and lots of patience, I have finally achieved recognition from my peers in the form of an award for one of my outstanding images. Being an emerging member of the Institute of Professional Photographers,we continually strive to perfect our craft and one of the ways is to enter the State & National Awards. This is where our skills are pitched against the states and Australia’s best photographers, in a variety of categories.
This year I entered three images in the Landscape category in the State Awards titled “The Port” “Ebenezer Place”and “A Day at the Bay“.
I attended the judging watching the events as they unfolded and I couldĀ not believe it when the panel of 5 judges scored the image at 86 points (silver with a distinction). Sitting amongst a roomful of professional photographers , I didn’t feel it was the right thing to do to yell out “that’s mine” because that’s what I wanted to do. May be next time! Finally my work was being recognized.
And it was the image “A Day At The Bay ” that achieved a Silver with Distinction. Considering it is only the second time that I have entered the awards, I was very happy with my result. The next challenge is to see if I can improve the image even further and then enter it in the National Awards next year.
